   Grüner Veltliner  2016

Our climate and soils are ideal for the variety and this is our fourth vintage for our Groovy Jetliner! (Grooner felt-leaner). Limited cases available.

This dry Grüner Veltliner has elegant  characters of lime zest, citrus, quince, spice, savoury tones and hints of white pepper and great mouth presence. The minerality and delicate fruit give length on the palate.

Cquina12

 Coquina Sauvignon Blanc 2012

A very complex, barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc where we combined wild barrel and skins ferments, yeast stirring and partial malo adding great texture and mouth feel with a slight nutty and mineral character . The skin berries were hand destemed. Coquina (kokena) is the technical name for the type of soft limestone of broken shells that formed 3 million years ago and is the base of our soils on the limestone hills.

Bottle: $28  Case(12): $26 2012 Sold out in NZ, available in Australia.

Cquina12

 Coquina Sauvignon Blanc 2014

This complex wine had a variety of treatments including wild ferment in aged oak barrels, with lees stirring weekly and aged for 3 months. A parcel was destemmed by hand and lightly crushed and plunged during ferment, with some uncrushed berries providing some carbonic maceration adding to the aromatics. This was gently pressed off and aged in seasoned oak, with weekly stirring of the lees. A further parcel was fermented in stainless steel tank to provide a lively fruit character. Vine yields were low from 2 cane vines carrying only 3kg per vine and hand picked.

An array of classic Sauvignon Blanc tones combined with Lime Rock salty freshness lead into a well-structured palate. Complexity, texture and length are the stars in this beautiful Sauvignon Blanc.

   Pinot Noir 2013

This was an excellent growing season in Central Hawkes Bay with warm weather and perfect ripening conditions, similar to 2007. This wine has matured in the bottle since 2014 and the tannins are integrating with the fruit, building structure and texture.

Generous spice, red berries, rhubarb and earth, with a tight herbal thread, are part of the layers that work in tandem. This Pinot has freshness, delicacy, poise and unique chalkiness. Has great acid balance and structure to last for many years.

Bottle: $42  Case: $40

White Knuckle Hill Pinot Noir bottle

White Knuckle Hill Pinot Noir 2013

A truly ripe, bright, structured, powerful yet brooding wine with concentrated fruit, spice, char and super fine tannis. There are ripe deep-red fruits, orange rind, fennel seeds and feral tones along with a darker savoury mineral edge and an underlying mineral streak. This delicious blend of sophistication is a slice of our seabed (just a lick of saline on the finish) and has old world perfume that alludes to the potential of this site and the wine's longevity. Great ageing potential, small production.

Pinot Noir 2010 Argyll Hills (Green label) SOLD OUT

Our green label reflects the ecological philosophy we practise in our vineyard on the Argyll Hills. Chaos of plant life, no cultivation, encouragement of beneficial predatory insects and birds, along with stunning topography are some of the aspects that enhance the complexity of our wines. Raspberry, savoury and earthy nuances, along with spicy and delicate floral notes. Lovely balance of richness, sweetness and good energy runs through the juicy mid palate. Fine acid keeps this wine fresh and gives great length.

Bottle $30; Case Price $28.

   Pinot Noir 2009

Youthful blackberry, cherry, plum and raspberry flavours abound on the palate along with notes of vanilla and spice from quality, well-proportioned oak. This wine shows a degree of depth of flavour in the mouth that is notably better than most of the wines in the tasting. Well-focussed wine on the mid-palate with tannins that are firm and structural. Long and sweet-fruited on the finish, this is a thoroughly enjoyable glass of New Zealand Pinot Noir.’ ABWA 2012

Bottle $60    limit to two bottles for purchase.

 Merlot 2013

2013 was a stunning year for ripening grapes and we picked in two batches, first the tops of the hills with shallow soils and later the lower slopes.

This dark ruby coloured wine has plum, mulberry, boysenberry and chocolate characters along with savoury and smoky tones. Development of more complex spicy and fruitcake flavours are forming with time and ripe tannins are becoming integrated with the oak.
